Misinterpretations

Here's a clever joke about misinterpretations in daily life. Things aren't always about us!

I was in the public toilets and had just sat down when a voice from the next cubicle said, "Hi! How are you?" Embarrassed, I said, "I'm doing fine." The voice said, "So, what are you up to?" I said, "Just doing the same as you, sitting here!" From the next door, "Can I come over?" Annoyed, I said, "Rather busy right now." The voice said, "Listen, I will have to call you back, there's an idiot next door answering all my questions."

Microfinance

Microfinance seems to be popping up a lot more recently. It seems that people are starting to understand that financing from major banks and organizations is not working very well and not making the world any better. Microfinance might be a way to fix a lot of financial problems in society and several examples are popping up that prove to be game changers.  People funding other people can get around beauracracy, red tape, and prejudice from large companies and get straight to what people actually want and need.

Hopefully microfinance will eventually start leaning towards society pawning up cash beforehand to see specific projects being created. Then, people would be paid to work on them and be delivered as open source.  That would more ideal and meet people's needs instead of a few people trying to figure out what is going to meet everyone's needs.

But until then, we're going to show examples of microfinance programs which are moving in a good direction.  Here's Flattr:

While I like the initial concept, I couldn't get enough information about how precisely it works to see if it locks you into anything, but I did signup and notice that it's based in Euros (so who knows how integrated with American dollars and payments it will be) and there is no way to see how you get paid until you have received 10 Euros. It also charges you 10% of what you make, which is pretty expensive compared to most retainer fees for services like this.  Conclusion is inconclusive, but still the concept sounds like it's at least moving in the right direction, which may allow similar services to show up and do a better job.

Other examples like this will be added in the future. Let us know if you know of any. better microfinance programs available.
